Mummy, I’m scared

It has been a difficult few years, with many here experiencing problems, overseas with loved ones, the Covid lockdowns resulting in illness, loss of wages, a huge change in routines and family interactions plus the normal stressors of daily living. Alhamdulillah we survived.

We as adults coped to the best of our ability, with some understanding of ‘what to do, and why is this happening’ still, often resulting in our own anxieties. However, these changes had a greater impact on our children that didn’t have the same coping ability. Counsellors report that the number of children that have developed generalised anxiety has skyrocketed.

Inshallah, In the next school holidays MIA will be running a workshop for Mums with children that are displaying insecurities, uncertainties, and general fears. To help YOU help yourself and how to help THEM through those fears. And follow through with them what the children’s activity entails and their activity book.

For the children there will be games, interactions, art and an age appropriate understanding of emotions and why they are feeling this way.

The children will be in a separate room for these activities with Sister Manal, who I’m sure many of you know. The mums will be in another room with me so that I can explain in depth about this “Generalised Anxiety Disorder which is sometimes characterised with a general lack of confidence and self-esteem.

At different times we will bring the mums and children together to show you what they have done and at the end of the morning a lovely way of bonding with your child.
