๐ŸŒฟ About the Event

Dementia affects many families across Australia โ€” yet for many in culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, it can remain a difficult topic to discuss or understand.

Facing Dementia Together is a special event hosted by the MIA Sisters Team in collaboration with the Facing Dementia Together campaign. It is designed to support Muslim women in recognising early signs of dementia, learning how to take charge of brain health, and feeling confident to seek support.

This session will be practical, informative, and culturally relevant, providing valuable insights from lived experience and professional research.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Guest Speaker: Aisha Kenawy

Bilingual Campaign Officer, Facing Dementia Together

Aisha is a researcher and Arabic-speaking campaign officer on Facing Dementia Together, a multilingual campaign that supports families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to better understand and talk about dementia. As a NAATI-certified interpreter with experience in health and community settings, and a researcher focused on improving multilingual communication in healthcare, Aisha is passionate about making dementia information more accessible and culturally respectful. In this talk, she will share practical insights about how families can play a role in early diagnosis by noticing the signs, raising their concerns and feeling more confident seeking support for dementia.
